Today’s show will explore one of the most recognizable Scripture texts in all of the Bible. It is hung on hospital walls, quoted at the bedside of the sick and dying, and recited at gravesides. Practically everyone is familiar with some part of Psalm 23. But the question that ‘Matt and Mom’ discuss today is: Do we know this Psalm by memory or do we know the Shepherd through intimacy? This is part one of a three- part series, which will explore the role and duties of a Shepherd and how that fits in our modern day age thinking. The sheep comparison is a wake-up call to our propensity as humans to be afraid easily, and in need of constant direction, guidance and protection. This show will reframe your understanding of our relationship with the Good Shepherd.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could get through life without any interruption of pain--from loss, sickness, heartache, disappointment, or tragedy? Yes, surely that is wishful thinking because unfortunately--by nature of living in this fallen world--bad things will inevitably happen to everyone, whether it is known in public or it is hidden in private. In today’s episode, Matt and Mom explore the question whether there can be blessing in brokenness. They discuss the reality of how Jesus is the ultimate lifeguard in times of trouble and that it is He alone who will rescue us from drowning in any sea of sorrow sent our way.

Is it possible to right a wrong? Not really. But it is possible to do right in spite of a wrong. Join ‘Matt and Mom’ today as they talk about the lost trait of “accountability.” Accountability is about “counting the cost” and then paying the price. If you are hiding in fear because of a mistake that you made than you are robbing God and yourself of the opportunity to move on, to be used, and to show off the power of God. No one likes to fail or have their circumstances aired in public, but never forget that our failures, when owned, can take us to a higher position of affecting other lives. As Matt quoted, “Your greatest purpose will be found in your greatest pain.” If these shows are helping you please facebook share it with others.

IN TODAY’S EPISODE ‘MATT AND MOM’ TALK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN GOD FLICKS THE COIN OF HIS GRACE AND MERCY INTO OUR PATH AFTER A TRAGIC MISTAKE. IT IS EVIDENT THAT WE HAVE TWO OPTIONS: WE CAN PICK IT UP AND WATCH HIM REDEEM THE SITUATION; OR WE CAN WALLOW IN OUR PRIDE AND PAIN AND ISOLATE OURSELVES FROM OWNING THE SITUATION. ACCOUNTABILITY HAS BECOME A LOST TRAIT IN OUR CULTURE. SO REGARDLESS OF ANY TRAGIC CHOICES WE MAKE OR THE DEVESTATING CONSEQUENCES ONE MUST LIVE WITH--MATT WILL TESTIFY FIRST HAND THAT IF ONE STEPS UP, OWNS UP, AND MAN’S UP…. THEN GOD CAN TRULY MAKE BEAUTY FROM ASHES.

As Christians, we all desire to go higher in our walk and knowledge of God, and yet the reality is in order to "go higher," we sometimes have to go lower to the Valley of Disappointment or the Mountain of Despair. Listen in on what it takes to truly have our feet placed on high places and experience all the fullness of a real, active, and intimate relationship with God.

Today's mantra is "whatever feels good to you, just do it." There is no right or wrong. Moral relativism rules the day. Our answer is not in politics or social activism, but rather is in men and women whose lives are changed by the power of a living God. How do you suppose 12 men, 7 of them lowly fishermen became known as, "the men who turned the world upside down." Where are the men and women today who believe that? Do you want to see societal change? Then perhaps we need a society of people who have undergone spiritual heart transplants. Hearts that listen and obey the word of God. Tune in and be encouraged that 'for such a time as this,' in 2013, there are people who God has placed to "turn this world upside down." It can be done and you can be a part of it.

"That Guy's Mom" radio show originated with the prayerful goal to be a tool that encourages people towards their faith--and to provide testimony of how one stays afloat with Christ as their anchor during the trying times in their life. As the body of Christ, when one member is hurt, we should all feel the pain. Our Lord commands us to "rejoice with those who rejoice; and mourn with those who mourn" (Romans 12:15). On today's show we will discuss news of the heart breaking suicide of Matthew Warren, youngest son of Pastor Rick Warren, who authored the New York Times best seller "The Purpose Driven Life." Pastor Scott and Andrea will explore questions of God's sovereignty in all that happens to us; how important it is to not judge other people; how to respond to haters; the stigma of mental illness; and ultimately how to keep going in the darkness of pain.

All of us can probably think of a time in our lives where something should of went a certain way, but one little event changed the entire course of direction and the outcome of our lives. Maybe you were late for work and the result was you missed a major accident with several car pile ups and injuries. Think about all the countless stories of those who on 9/11 had their plans changed that morning, and as a result averted a more tragic end to that day. Today's show will challenge you to think about those times in your life --when things could have gone drastically different--and hopefully call to your mind the important realization that there is a God who is intimately involved in every minute detail of our lives. He is calling us back to Him--are you hearing Him?

But don't buy that lie, there is a new generation of young people standing up for their faith. Tune into "That Guy's Mom" radio podcast and meet Miss South Shore Area's Outstanding Teen Alyssa Sullivan.
